Media Advisory: Winter Isn't Over Yet!

Ontario's winter weather can be very challenging at times, often exposing drivers to a wide range of weather and road conditions can often change drastically in a matter of hours.

The Windsor Essex County Injury Prevention Coalition is reminding our community to drive with extra care this winter and always drive according to weather and road conditions. Windsor and Essex County uses the latest technology to monitor weather and road conditions so snow removal equipment can be snt out when it is needed.

Through a variety of resources developed and supported by the Ministry of Transportation, the coalition is taking opportunities to raise awareness about safe winter driving practices and winter maintenance practices. Here are a few valuable tips:
  • Use winter tires to provide better traction and handling through snow, slush and ice.
  • Call 511 for current road conditions and weather.
  • Carry a winter survival kit with extra clothing, winter boots, blankets, chocolate bars.
  • If winter driving makes you nervous or fearful, stay off the road unless absolutely necessary.
The Windsor Essex County Injury Prevention Coalition reminds you that it takes time to clean our roads of snow and ice. Please be patient and drive respectfully.
